Have you ever downloaded or been given a video file which you haven’t been able to play? This error can mainly be put down to the codec which has been used to encode the video file. Wikipedia explains that
“A codec is a device or program capable of performing encoding and decoding on a digital data stream or signal. The word
codec may be a combination of any of the following: ‘Compressor-Decompressor’, ‘Coder-Decoder’, or ‘Compression/Decompression algorithm’.”
Well for a while I had been using K-lite Codec Pack until I found the Vista Codec Pack. So whats the difference? Well not much, personally I just like the Vista Codec Pack better, it seems to be less bloated the the K-lite Codec Pack.
Check out the codec list which is included in the pack.
