Google has announced on their Official Blog that by the end of 2007 they will be Carbon Neutral.
Google plans to do this by:
- reduce energy consumption by maximizing efficiency;
- invest in and use renewable energy sources; and
- purchase carbon offsets for the emissions that we can’t reduce directly.

Google has anounced carbon neutrality by the end of 2007, but now, a quarter into 2008, we haven’t seen much action yet… something we preach at the Carbon Reduction Institute - http://www.noco2.com.au - is that you have to carefully plan your path to carbon neutrality as to not mislead consumers and I believe firmly in that statement. Such a pledge should be substantiated by realistic goals…
