Following my email to How-To Channel I received the following response:

Hi Matt,

Thanks for your feedback. We recently ended our agreement to show the Lab with Leo Laporte and will be unable to show the last few episodes. While we are pleased to be a niche channel, providing shows that you won’t find anywhere else, programs need to sustain a level interest in order to justify being broadcast. Ongoing audience measurement indicated the Lab with Leo was not in line with viewing preferences of our channel. As you know producers of the program in Canada have also made the decision to end production of The Lab.

Cheers

The HOW TO Team

The Lab with Leo has officially been canceled, how ever Canadian viewers will be able to see the remaining episodes, yet Australian viewers wont due to the How-To Channel immediately canceling it.

Heres the response I got from the Lab Crew when asking about the show in Australia:

Thank you for writing us.

Production of ‘The Lab with Leo’ has ceased.

New episodes will be airing in Canada until the end of May. However
the HOW-TO Channel has chosen to stop airing the show immediately.

If you have any questions or concerns as to why, please contact them: saygday@howtochannel.com.au

We will continue to put up videos of segments on our website until the
new episodes have finished airing.

Thank you so much for watching and being a part of ‘The Lab’.
We couldn’t have done it without you, the viewers.

Sincerely,

The Lab Team

I urge viewers in Australia to contact the How-To Channel at the email address supplied and request the remaining episodes.

Have you got the odd Thumb / Flash Drive laying around doing nothing?

You can now pass it on to someone who needs one!Thumbs Up! Thumb Drive and Flash Drive Recycling with a Purpose!

Increasingly families who do it tough have problems dipping into their pockets when it comes to affording all the necessities that kids need these days for school. This year we have had a huge jump in families asking if we can provide them with flash drives as these have become the new essential on school childrens stationary lists.

The prices have dropped, allowing people to pick these up as almost a semi-disposable item, but for many families an extra $20-$30 per child is a strain at the beginning of and school term. You can ease the pressure and do something great with your flash drives you don’t use any more and pass them on to children who now need them most!

If you would like to help, all you need to do is place your old drives into an envelope and send them to:

Thumbs Up!

Your small donation can make the difference for our next generation!

Thanks to Project SafeCom

Dear all…

Today the Prime Minister, Mr John Howard, has visited the Governor-General and announced the next Federal Election, but in a clever, manipulative and nasty law pushed through in Federal Parliament last year (the government could “push” this, because it has a majority in Both Houses of Parliament), the Electoral Act has been changed.

The Electoral Rolls will now close at 8pm of the day that the “writs” are issued for the election, sooner than ever before. Mr Howard has - presumably under pressure from lobby groups and his own party - still given some time beyond today’s announcement for closing the Rolls. At his press conference this morning the PM stated:

“The writs will issue on the 17th of October, the (electoral) rolls will close on the 22nd of October….”

When the Electoral Rolls are closed, it will be TOO LATE to enrol to vote, and many thousands of young people are likely to miss out, and they will not be able to vote!!

It is likely that the government has changed this law, because it deliberately wants to stop young people to vote because most young people will not vote for Mr Howard or the Coalition government, but for Labor, The Greens, the Democrats or for any other party or for an Independent.

This election, more than any election in Australian history, is about voting to protect our planet, and the party that performs best of all on Climate Change, should become the party that gets the votes of all people.

And our guess is, that, more than any other age group, young people are highly likely to consider the environment before all other issues when making up their mind who to vote for.

What you can do:

1. Forward this message to as many young people you know;
2. Phone all young people you know and mention this issue, and ask them to enrol to vote immediately;
3. Send an SMS message to ALL young people you know, to your young friends, to any of your children or grandchildren in this age group;

You can enrol to vote via the Australian Electoral Commission’s website:

http://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/Special_Category/Age_17_enrolment.htm

or here: http://www.aec.gov.au/Enrolling_to_vote/How_To_Enrol/index.htm

Update:

Thanks to Lloydy he has informed me that Senator Collins in this clip is actually a comedian :)

I stumbled across this video on YouTube, it is an interview with a Senator Collins talking about a tanker which had spilled crude oil into the ocean off the coast of Western Australia. Sen. Colling handles himself so well it equals a laugh. What caused caused the spill? Well the “Front Fell Off”. Have a watch:embedded by WP Embedded Video

Well it seems like the Australian Big Brother can’t get enough of anything that “slaps”. As most remember last year’s infamous turkey slap incident a new video has emerged of house mate Emma “slapping” fellow house mate Laura.

Big Brother live stream viewers  witnessed the footage on Tuesday night and has now landed on Behind Big Brother Australia, funnily enough it didnt air on their daily show…

Personally, I didn’t think that much of the Emma’s reaction, I just thought it looked like a harmless tap.

Heres the video below on Youtube, but if it gets removed you can view it on the Behind Big Brother Australia post Fans call foul: Emma hits Laura.

Meg over at Dipping into the Blogpond has started the Australian Blogs Community at BUMPzee.

In Join an Australian Blogs Community on BUMPzee, Meg states that:

BUMPzee started out as a social networking site for affiliate marketing bloggers, but has grown to include a variety of other communities.

While MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog focus on individual blogs, BUMPzee is different.BUMPzee

BUMPzee allows like minded bloggers to join communities according to their interests, where the focus is on the community, not an individual blog.

For avid consumers of Aussie blogs, one of the real bonuses is that you can subscribe easily to an RSS feed for all the blogs that join the community, OR read entries via your BUMPzee reader (on the site).

You can vote for entries by “bump”ing them, see what’s popular, see what’s new, search for tags within the community, leave comments (aka discuss), messages and post events (once I work out how!). There’s an optional widget to display recent BUMPzee visitors, and a WordPress plugin… but these are by no means compulsory.

There are now a whole bunch of members after just one day, she has obviously started a great thing!

Signing up is pretty easy, just head over to the BUMPzee’s registration page, then once you have done that submit your blog’s RSS feed and then submit it to Australian Blogs… simple as :)

It isnt very often that Perth gets a tour without the eastern states getting it first, but it is even rarer for us to get an exclusive one night tour which abandons the eastern seaboard! This for me is very staggering but I am not complaining (sorry to all my eastern seaboard comrades). Anyway this is the case with the WWE SmackDown SummerSlam Tour.sfx16988.jpg
