In the Arena:

Jim Ross welcomed us to the show, and then former World Tag Team Champions Mike Rotundo & Barry Windham (who both work for WWE now, although that wasn’t mentioned) were introduced to the crowd. They were sitting at ringside, and they showed a short video package on Rotundo & Windham while Ross and Jerry Lawler discussed their history.

WWE World Tag Team Championship Title Match

The Hardys vs. Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch (c)

Ross and Lawler called this one, and JR talked about the history of the tag titles before the bout. Cade started out with Matt, and broke clean in the corner as they locked up. They locked up again, and Cade broke clean again. Cade offered a handshake, and Matt kicked him in the gut, then hit a shoulderblock. Murdoch complained that Hardy wasn’t following the rules. Cade tagged in and clipped the leg, then slammed Matt knee first to the mat for a two count. Murdoch dropped a knee on the leg, and Matt tried to fight back, but Murdoch applied a single leg Boston crab. Murdoch had his left eye swelled up from a match last night. Matt struggled in the hold, and eventually turned over and kicked free.

Matt made the hot tag to Jeff as Murdoch tagged Cade. Jeff cleaned house on Cade and Murdoch, sending Murdoch to the floor after a backdrop and hitting a Slingblade clothesline on Cade for a two count. Jeff nailed Cade with Whisper In The Wind, but Cade kicked out at two.

Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam [Stretcher Match, Extreme Rules]
Randy Orton introduced first and looks very pensive in the ring as he awaits Rob Van Dam. RVD very slowly walks to the ring for his entrance with little to no emotion. We have the two face off in the middle of the ring as the bell rings. Big stare down. RVD pokes Orton and pays him some lip service then gives him a big standing kick out of the blue. Orton hits the mat and rolls into the corner. Rob sends Orton to the corner and charges with a spinning heel kick and hits. Opposite corner now, RVD climbs and pummels. He throws nine punches and gets pushed off then runs back and hits a monkey flip on Orton. Kick to the face of Orton and another to the gut. Orton laid out half hanging over the apron, face up, and RVD leaps over the top rope and hits a legdrop across the neck of Orton. Orton to the corner and RVD hits a spinning kick and Orton over-sells again. RVD to the ropes, reversed by Orton and RVD comes back with another spin kick. Van Dam mounts Orton and pummels him now. Orton to his feet and RVD hits a snap dropkick to the knees of Orton. Orton goes for a kick of RVD, who catches it, but Orton reaches forward and clocks RVD with a big right hand. Both men down. Orton tries the RKO but RVD counters with a kick to the face. RVD leaps to the top rope for a 5 Star FrogSplash, but he loses his footing and he topples all the way to the outside of the ring. RVD’s got that expressionless look in his eyes already now from the fall. Orton slides outside and punches RVD now, taking the upper hand. Back inside we go and a dropkick to RVD. Very slow pace now as Orton hits a leaping Knee Drop to the face of RVD. Orton takes RVD to the center of the ring and stomps him. Still extremely slow pace set by Orton. Randy sets up a Gut Wrench and hits a Modified Gut-wrench lift into a neck breaker. Orton rolls RVD to the edge of the ring, trying to get him onto the stretcher but RVD falls off the stretcher. Suddenly RVD leaps to his feet as Orton follows and hits a big leaping right hand, and another. RVD then sends Orton into the ring steps. RVD puts Orton on the stretcher on the outside, then climbs the apron, does the RVD motion and hits the Corkscrew Legdrop from the apron to Orton on the stretcher on the outside mat. EMTs come to the aid of Rob Van Dam and load him onto a stretcher. Back inside the ring, RVD mounting the offense now and speeding up the pace, he calls for Rolling Thunder but as RVD rolls and leaps, Orton gets to his feet and hits a quick Powerslam as a reversal. Orton now gets to the outside of the apron and tries to suplex RVD to the outside, but it’s blocked. Orton can’t get it, he swings and RVD ducks, and then hits a dropkick to the face of Orton, knocking him to the mat. RVD puts Orton on the stretcher outside and gets in the ring. He goes coast to coast and hits a Sommersault Plancha to the outside, but Orton rolls off the stretcher and RVD’s foot meets the stretcher and the rest of him comes crashing down on the outside floor. Orton picks up RVD and places him on the stretcher. Orton is pushing him toward the finish line slowly. RVD starts to get up and Orton punches him a few times. RVD responds with a kick to the face and turns Orton around and lays him on the stretcher. RVD quickly pushes him across the finish line on the stretcher to steal the victory. Your Winner: Rob Van Dam Post-match, Orton attacks RVD from behind and then sends him into the corner post. It isnt very often that Perth gets a tour without the eastern states getting it first, but it is even rarer for us to get an exclusive one night tour which abandons the eastern seaboard! This for me is very staggering but I am not complaining (sorry to all my eastern seaboard comrades). Anyway this is the case with the WWE SmackDown SummerSlam Tour.sfx16988.jpg

When your ego becomes what you are it is a sad realisation that you are no longer an inspirational person. Dave Batista, better known as Batista from the WWE has finally reached the point where his ego has consumed his personality. How do I know it is his ego? What else would drive someone to treat the peopleBatista who pay his extravagant salary. Check out this article regarding Dave Batista’s treatment of Fans in the United Kingdom. WWE star’s sulk is blow for fans @ Express and Star

Young Black Country wrestling fans were left disappointed when an American wrestling superstar refused to speak to them or have pictures taken, it was claimed today.

Hundreds turned out to see wrestler Batista appear at Woolworths in Wolverhampton yesterday.

The store had been running a promotion where youngsters were given a prized ticket to meet the 6ft 5in giant after buying any WWE merchandise from there.

Queues snaked outside the store, with many youngsters taking the afternoon off school to catch a glimpse of the former WWE heavyweight and tag team champion just hours before he appeared in the ring in Birmingham as part of the WWE world tour.

But one of those, Sedgley youngster Kyle Peplow, went home in tears after his meeting with his wrestling idol.

Kyle’s dad Colin, of Sedgley Hall Avenue, said the way youngsters had been treated was “disgraceful”.

He said: “Kyle got a ticket and couldn’t sleep the night before, he was so excited at meeting Batista and he had the afternoon off school. All his mates were telling him how jealous they were.

“But when he got there we were told Batista would only be signing WWE merchandise. We queued for nearly two hours and he signed a WWE book, didn’t even look at him or say a word and that was it. His mum was trying to take a picture of the two on the mobile phone but his bouncers kept standing in the way to stop it.

“And he refused to sign a birthday card that Kyle had taken in because it is his birthday in three weeks.

“I think it is absolutely disgraceful for a man who is loved by so many kids to behave like this. We go down to the Wolves training ground all the time and they can’t do enough for us. If they can make the effort I don’t see why a jumped-up bloke in tights can’t do the the same. Kyle couldn’t stop crying.”

The 6ft 5ins hulk was promoting last night’s Wrestlemania Revenge Tour at Birmingham’s NEC Arena which saw Batista take on perennial favourite Undertaker. Limited tickets were available for the meet and greet session at Woolworths with the first 500 shoppers to buy WWE merchandise gaining access to see the star in the flesh. Amy Miller, 17 and Pete Stevens, 21, were one of the first to arrive outside Woolworths at 5am.

Pete, from Sandwell said he had waited for years to meet Batista, but admitted he did seem a little “jetlagged” when signing his autograph. “I didn’t say much and he looked a bit jetlagged to be honest.” Woolworths spokesman Daniel Himsworth said: “Woolworths is extremely disappointed that its customers were disappointed by the WWE superstar.”

But WWE’s Ross Walker said said two hours would normally be allocated for such a signing, but yesterday’s session had to be cut to an hour because of transport problems.
